About our Faculty

The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering is one of the 15 faculties that embody Politehnica University of Bucharest. It was established in 1971 as the Department of Aeronautical Engineering by Professor Elie Carafoli together with Inventor and Pioneer Henry Coanda.

The Faculty hosts more than 600 undergraduate and postgraduate students and offers the possibility to specialize in Aerospace Engineering, Propulsion Systems, Equipment and Avionics, Management in Aeronautics and Air Navigation (taught in English).

Our Message

We are thankful and at the same time proud for being elected as the new Local Board of AS Bucharest. During this Business Year, we will focus on networking, communication and international collaboration: new partners as well as improving relationships with our current ones will be part of our agenda. We will invest our time and energy in a collaborative effort to support the development and the evolution of our society by nurturing our members and fulfilling their requirements, offering guidance and providing opportunities to build their future career and become part of the Aviation & Aerospace Industry.

Our team is not only motivated by its past experiences, but also by the future EUROAVIAn projects, and it is always a pleasure to see the same passion and motivation in our colleagues across Europe (and not only!).

About the city:

Bucharest is the capital city of Romania and is located outside the Carpathian Arc, on the banks of the river Dambovita, a tributary of the Danube. It was first mentioned in international documents in 1459 as "The Fortress of Bucharest’, when it served as a residence for the Wallachian prince Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler), commonly associated with the famous Dracula Count.

The city currently has more than 1.8 million inhabitants and is the cultural, industrial and financial centre of Romania. During the 20^th century, the city's elegant architecture and the sophistication of its elite society earned Bucharest the nickname of "Little Paris". However, it still bears the signs of the communist era by what may be one of its most prominent landmarks, the Palace of the Parliament.
